On Friday, July 24th, Chelan Fire & Rescue crews were called out for a third alarm brush fire near Kingsbury and Colockum Roads close to Malaga.  This fast moving fire threatened structures and warranted Level 3 evacuations for property owners in the area with crews from throughout Chelan, Douglas, and Grant counties responding to the call out from Chelan County Fire District 1.  Chelan Fire & Rescue has automatic and mutual assistance agreements with multiple partner agencies to responding when requests for resources go out.  These agreements enable all participating agencies to aggressively attack major fire events in hopes of preventing major fire loss while effectively and efficiently pooling our resources.  This fire was designated as a state mobilization fire on the 24th which brings resources from across the state along with an assigned Incident Management Team to take over the fire from the home agency thus allowing them to continue service delivery to their constituents.  As of Monday, July 27th this fire had burned over 3,000 acres and was about 90% contained.  All crew members have returned home safe but tired, ready to tackle the next emergency.
